Welcome to Soho![]() ![]()
Welcome to Soho, is the third in a series of photo projects documenting districts of London. The first two instalment were Welcome to Clerkenwell and Welcome to Fitzrovia.
The idea is part documentary in the style of London Shop Fronts and part street photography. The focus is on the place more than the people of London, although the latter make an occasional appearance.
Welcome to Soho was shot using the Canon 5D Mark II and a Sigma 35mm f1.4. The prime 35mm Sigma was perfect for the job and as a result the photos had very little post production, although the auto perspective correction in Lightroom 5 came in very handy.
Like Welcome to Clerkenwell and Welcome to Fitzrovia, Welcome to Soho doesn’t aim to provide the slightest historical context of this vibrant district of London and instead leaves it as an exercise for the reader to Google it.
Originally I was going to call this series 'Lost in Soho', as I inevitably do, however, I have to thank @howett for the guided tour, he does make a cameo or two in this set, so look out for that. Also look out for @nickjdillon's cameo.
So without further ado, Welcome to Soho:
